Girona FC multiplies income by four and approves a budget of 55 million euros

The Shareholders' Meeting plans to balance the budget this year

The General Shareholders' Meeting of Girona Football Club, SAD has today approved the planned budget for the current 2022/2023 season, for which it is expected to quadruple the income compared to the previous one, from 14 to 55 million euros. This increase is due to the increase in income from television rights following promotion to the First Division, which will add up to 40.2 million. However, there is also a considerable increase in expected commercial revenue, which will go from 2.9 to 7.6 million and matchday revenue, which has increased significantly due to the recovery of audiences in the stadiums throughout the season and they are expected to grow by 3.2 million.

Despite the budget jump that participation in LaLiga Santander entails, the expenses planned for this season have grown but in a sustained way to adapt the personnel and operational structure to the new category. The approved budget therefore foresees that expenses are balanced with income, unlike the previous season.

The Board has also approved the annual accounts for the 2021-2022 season. A campaign that Girona FC closed with an increase in income - they increased by 2.5 million euros - due to the lower impact of Covid and the new commercial agreements, mainly related to the entry of the Club's main sponsor , Gosbi. Despite this, the Club closed the season with 12 million euros in losses, caused by the cost of the sports staff, the premiums for promotion to the First Division and the obligations arising from it with other clubs. This negative balance was already planned and covered with the injection of 20 million euros from the latest capital increase, carried out in 2021, and which have allowed the Club to maintain its solvency.

Finally, the entry of John MacBeath as a director has been agreed, replacing Andy Young, who has been thanked for his work and collaboration during the 5 years he has held the position. In addition, it has been agreed to appoint the auditing company for the next three financial years.
