The best way to finish!

Girona scores in the last game of the season and celebrates the end of a historic year with the fans.

Girona 7-0 Granada: the biggest win in history

There was no better way to end an unforgettable season than by scoring the biggest goal in the Club's history. Míchel Sánchez's men were far superior to Granada and, with Dovbyk's fight for the pitxitxi, they never slowed down. The Ukrainian striker ended up scoring three goals, Tsygankov two, and Eric and Stuani also added to the party. The victory gave way to the celebrations on the pitch, where Montilivi surrendered to the heroes of this season and were able to enjoy themselves with them.

The team solves the problem in the first half

Girona dominated from the start and settled in their opponents' half, generating clear chances and threatening a Granada side that was outplayed for the entire ninety minutes. Eric García opened the scoring on the half hour mark from a strategic play, and this gave way to a final stretch of the first half in which the team settled the match. Just three minutes later Tsygankov headed in at the near post to finish off a good team move, and Dovbyk took advantage of a penalty on Portu to score the third from the spot.

Dovbyk wants to be top scorer

The team enjoyed the restart and did not slow down the pace. Tsygankov was once again the most opportune player to take advantage of a good change of pace by Sávio at the far post, leaving him alone to push the ball in. From one Ukrainian to another, because Dovbyk, with the ball in play, appeared again to cross the ball and equalise Sorloth. Stuani also scored his own shot on the line, and again Dovbyk took advantage of another penalty in the added time to score his hat-trick. Right now, Girona's ‘9’ is the top scorer alone in Primera División, waiting for the rest of the matches of the day.

The statistics

Girona clearly dominated the game, and this was reflected in the clear difference in possession. Also with the passes, and above all in the location of these, many of them in the opposition half against a Granada side that was submerged and outplayed. Míchel's men had more shots, but above all they were much clearer and had clear chances to extend the lead.
