PUMA gives name to the Girona Football Academy by PUMA

Girona Football Academy by PUMA is the name by which, as of today, Girona FC's training centre in Vilablareix will be known. The Club and the German sports equipment brand have reached an agreement whereby PUMA has given its name to the red and white team's equipment.

Girona and PUMA began their relationship in the 2019-2020 season by becoming a strategic partner, with a long-term agreement, supplying the men's and women's first teams, grassroots and Genuine. Now, the relationship between the two entities has taken another step forward with PUMA's involvement in the Girona Football Academy, a fundamental pillar in the growth and development of talent.

Having its own training centre was an old dream that the Club had not been able to materialise until this year, when on 10 July the men's first team kicked off the 2024-2025 season by also opening the Vilablareix facilities.

The complex is a space designed to enhance the performance of the players and for this purpose it has a series of first class facilities; two hybrid grass football pitches, as well as complementary equipment such as changing rooms, gymnasium and offices.

“A strategic project for the future”

The president of Girona FC, Delfí Geli has assured that “we are proud that the Girona Football Academy by PUMA is a reality. Its creation was a strategic project for the future and we understood that PUMA could accompany us on this journey”. Regarding the relationship with the sports brand, Geli added that “they have been with us since the Second Division and were with us in some difficult times at the beginning and very good times at the end”. “I have no doubt that they will continue to help us to grow and forge a stronger Club. We can only thank them for accompanying us on this journey that never stops and that we hope will be as successful as it has been so far”.

For his part, Esteve Planas, Managing Director PUMA Southern Europe, stated that “for PUMA it is an honour to share this historic moment with Girona, which is to have made the first sports city in its history a reality. To be able to link our name and brand to these facilities is part of the journey that we are on with the Club and which began five years ago”. Planas recalls that at the beginning of the relationship with Girona “we already saw that the project had a DNA, a special energy that has allowed us to make the journey together and see how year after year the Club has grown and exceeded all expectations. That is why our link with Girona is a very important part of our global strategy”.

“Forever Faster, Forever Dreaming”

Esteve Planas concluded that “we feel privileged to be part of it and to be able to continue saying, for our part, Forever Faster and Forever Dreaming with Girona for many years to come”.
