Girona vs Valencia

The team needs to rely on Montilivi to get back the three points from the hand of the fans.

Montilivi holds the key

The stadium's push will be key to try to get the three points again. Despite the improvement of sensations and having offered a positive image in the last few matches, Girona have not been able to win for weeks and Míchel's team wants to get it against Valencia to make good the draw at the RCDE Stadium and face the final stretch of the championship with much more tranquility. The Mestalla team, which is going through a quite positive dynamic after a very complicated year from a sporting point of view, will arrive with the intention of taking one more step towards permanence, as they have spent most of the season in relegation positions. Sixteenth with 27 points, just one above the red zone, they have managed to score in seven of the last ten matches, losing only against Real Madrid, Barça and Atlético de Madrid. The unfinished business, however, is that they have yet to record an away win. The improvement in results in these ten matches has coincided with the change in the dugout, with Carlos Corberán having changed the dynamic after taking over the team at the bottom, four points from salvation. In fact, they have already scored more points than in the previous seventeen games.

The names of the team

Carlos Corberán arrived last January as an emergency solution to try to reverse the negative trend under Rubén Baraja. So far, the Corberán effect has allowed Valencia to reverse the situation, despite the fact that they are still in the fight to avoid falling into the bottom three. The Valencian coach had previously coached Olympiacos of Greece and Doxa Katokopias and Ermis Aradippou of Cyprus, as well as acting as assistant coach at Villarreal and in Saudi Arabia. His last experience was in England, first as Bielsa's assistant at Leeds and then in the Championship with Huddersfield Town and West Brom, whom he managed until his arrival at Valencia. Corberán has in his ranks top players such as Mamardashvili in goal, on loan from Liverpool, captain Gayà or Mosquera at the back, Javi Guerra or Pepelu in midfield and an offensive zone with names on the wings such as Diego López or Luis Rioja, authors of five goals, or Hugo Duro, center forward and top scorer with seven. In addition, during the winter they signed Sadiq, who has consolidated his position in attack and has already scored four goals in seven games.

Precedents

The history of matches between the two teams is very even. Girona have won four and Valencia five, while they have never drawn. At Montilivi, Míchel's side have won the last two meetings, the last one last season with a Stuani double at the end, despite the fact that in the first leg the Valencians won at Mestalla (2-0).
