Francés, new Girona FC player

Alejandro Francés will be a new Girona FC player for the next five seasons, until 2028-2029. The Club and Real Zaragoza have reached a transfer agreement for the Aragonese defender.

Alejandro Francés was born on 1 August 2002 in Zaragoza. He joined Real Zaragoza's youth academy at a very young age. The new ‘rojiblanco’ defender made his debut, as a División de Honor Juvenil player, with the first team in the 2019-2020 season in a Copa del Rey match. His league debut took place in June 2019 against Lugo and the Aragonese centre-back played all ninety minutes.

Last season he played thirty-six Hypermotion league games for Zaragoza, scoring three goals and one assist.

Characteristics

Francés is a centre-back who stands out for his defensive solidity, his ability to anticipate and his good ball handling. This good treatment of the ball allows him to contribute to the construction of plays from the back. Although his main position is that of central defender, he has also shown that he is capable of adapting to other defensive positions if necessary.

In terms of international appearances, Francés has been called up to the U-17 and U-21 national teams. Luis de la Fuente has also made him take part in training sessions with the senior team.
